What smoothies give you energy?

Smoothies with plenty of vitamins and minerals will help keep you energized and alert.

Being sure your smoothie contains protein, fat, and carbohydrates will help you achieve a balanced mini meal that fuels your day. Beware of adding too many high sugar fruits or juices as this can cause a blood sugar spike and crash later.

What foods give you energy all day?

Foods that give you energy all day are ones that contain many nutrients with balanced macronutrients such as complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and essential fatty acids.

Caffiene gives you an initial boost, but it wont keep you energized all day long. An energy smoothie with naturally energizing vegetables, fruits, and other healthful ingredients will keep you going without any jittery side effects or crashes.

  • beets
  • banana
  • sweet potato
  • eggs
  • apples
  • nuts
  • fatty fish
  • brown rice
  • dairy products

What are good things to put in a smoothie?

Energy smoothies are a perfect way to get in some of these highly nutritious foods. Ideal options are:

  • beets
  • banana
  • apple
  • sweet potato
  • walnuts
  • greek yogurt
  • cottage cheese
  • flax seed
  • berries
  • greens
  • oats

What gives you energy in the morning?

An energy smoothie can be a great way to boost your energy in the morning. Just remember to keep it balanced or add other foods with your smoothie to fuel you.

The best way to get an energy boost in the morning that doesn’t result in a crash is to focus on complex carbs, healthy fats, and protein along with nutrient rich fruits and vegetables.

There’s nothing wrong with caffeine either! Coffee, black or green tea are healthy and rich in antioxidants. But combine them with a healthy breakfast to prevent caffeine crash. Are smoothies good for health?

Smoothies can be excellent for your health if you are careful about the ingredients you include.

Drinking your calories can be detrimental since it’s very easy to add hundreds of calories without realizing it. Remember that peanut butter contains about 100 calories per tablespoon. Eating several pieces of fruit at once will also add up in both calories and sugar.

Fruit juice is also very high in sugar and low in fiber. Stick to adding whole fruits, preferably with the skin, and use almond milk, coconut milk, or dairy for your liquid.

What are the health benefits of beets?

  • Extremely high in very well absorbed antioxidants
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Helps with hypertension by reducing blood pressure
  • Protects against free radicals
  • Helps heal liver damage
  • Plant source of iron, potassium, copper, and magnesium, helping prevent anemia in vegans and vegetarians
  • High in nitric oxide
  • Improves blood flow to the brain, possibly aiding in preventing and treating Alzheimer’s, dementia, and cognitive decline

In regards to exercise, beets have been shown to aid in exercise performance boosting the ability to perform endurance cardio as well as high intensity activity (like HIIT).

Beets do this through improved mitochondrial efficiency and glucose uptake in muscle

Can beets be bad for you?

If you suffer from kidney stones, it may be wise to not eat a large amount of beets or other foods containing oxalates such as rhubarb, chocolate, nuts, and spinach.

In general, however, beets are excellent for kidney health, helping treat and prevent kidney disease.

Can you eat raw beets?

Raw beets are fine to eat. They are best shaved or grated since they are rather firm. Try them in salads or grated into baked goods.

You can grate raw beets for beet energy smoothies as well.

Canned vs. fresh beets

Canned beets are an alternative to fresh. They still contain the health benefits of fresh beets.

The taste will be altered, especially if you choose beets that have been preserved in vinegar or oil.

In this energy smoothie recipe, I’ve roasted the beet. I love the natural sweetness and depth of flavour this provides. You can also steam or boil your beets, keeping in mind that if you choose to boil them, you will lose some nutrients in the cooking water.
