Healthy Recipes Archives
Welcome to my collection of healthy recipes! I have been passionate about cooking ever since I moved out of my parent’s house when I was 19 and starting university. With a baby and a partner to cook for, I had to lear quick. As a kid, I hadn’t been one to learn from or help my mother cook.
However, my parents instilled a love of healthy recipes and cooking in me as they focused on nutritious food a lot when I was growing up.
My father cooked a lot and made a large variety of healthy recipes from all different cultures. On the other hand, mother made the classic stand by dishes we all remember fondly from the 90s.
After I had my son, Kaden, I decided to get into shape. I’d loved fitness and working out since a young age (I started my own workout routine in my bedroom with water jugs and laundry detergent when I was 14).
Soon, I started to workout in my living room and at my university gym. I also began researching healthy recipes and foods. When fully committed to my new lifestyle, I lost a lot of weight.
The power of being able to make changes in my body, on my own, based on my OWN choices felt really good. I was biking everywhere, working out and eating healthy!
Variety is important to me and learned to make many, many different dishes. I’ve experimented with a lot of different types of cooking.
I was vegetarian for quite a number of years, I tried low fat, low carb, high protein, clean eating, soaking and fermenting, and more. Later, I counted macros and weighed and measured my food for several years.
My healthy recipes reflect everything I’ve learned and am continuing to learn about nutrition.
I am currently taking a Sports and Exercise Nutrition course as well.
